School finishes this Thursday 24th June. P1-4 will finish at 12.45pm and P5-7 at 1pm. School will return on Monday 16th August. We will continue with the soft start which will be from 8.45am for EVERYONE, with school starting at 9am and finishing at 3pm. The only exception to this will be for Primary 1 who will start at 8.55am and finish at 2.55pm, allowing them a bit of space to meet their parents. Gates will be clearly marked for August so that you and the children know which gate to enter and exit.
We say goodbye and good luck to the following teachers who are moving on to pastures new – Miss Alexander, Miss Madden, Miss MacDonald, Miss Diverty and Dr Lundy. We wish you well for the future. We welcome back Mrs Summers from maternity leave and we welcome two new members of staff, Miss Mazur and Miss Egan.
We continue to have 17 classes and yesterday the children got to meet their teachers outside and got to see who will be in class with them. The classes are as follows:
P1a – Miss McHugh
P1b – Mrs Conroy and Mrs Worton
P1c – Mrs Boyle
P2a – Miss Mazur and Mrs Traynor
P2b – Miss Turnock
P3/2 – Mrs Gribben
P3a – Mrs Carr
P3b – Mrs McMullan
P4a – Miss Doherty
P4b – Miss Wells
P5a – Miss Campbell
P5b – Miss Egan and Mrs Hilditch
P6/5 – Miss McCann
P6a – Mrs Summers
P7/6 – Mr Aubrey
P7a – Mrs Rutherford and Mrs McIntosh
P7b – Mrs Boyle and Miss Thompson
As you can imagine, the classification process is very difficult and with our large numbers we have no option but to have some composite classes. We do our best to make sure that we have workable classes and have taken account of friendship groups too. However, change is good and we want to encourage new friendships to help prepare our children for the future.
We will continue to operate separate breaks and lunches as the overwhelming feedback is that this really works and allows the children to have more space to play. As restrictions ease we do hope to have the opportunity to mix ages and stages regularly.
We also say goodbye and good luck to 80 Primary 7 pupils who had a wonderful day yesterday with their leaver’s mass, awards ceremony and party in the playground. I wish them all a very happy and successful future. We also have some children from various stages throughout the school leaving us, returning home abroad or moving onto other schools. We wish you well in all you do.
It’s been a mixed bag of a year with many ups and downs but your children have continued to show great resilience and really made the most of things and I am very proud of them all. We hope and pray that session 21/22 is more normal, allowing us to be together more and unite as a school community.
May I take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and I hope you all have a wonderful summer break.
